Summer's End

‘Georgie, I want change,' she said, 'and though I'm much touched at the idea of your missing me, I think I must have it. I want to get roused up again and shaken and made to tick. Change of air, change of scene, change of people.’

Mapp & Lucia by EF Benson

This, dear Reader, I shall not say is the sole inspiration of movement so anticipated by Mrs. Phillip Lucas. We've been on and on about it for months, since our return from Hilton Head Island at the end of March last. But it is only lately that the disturbances surrounding our contemplation have settled sufficiently to permit us to make a leap. This afternoon, following considerable work in the planning department, the following ensued:

HOW'S SHE BOOTIN'ER?

Hi Jay, Alana, Louie and Roy

How's my East Coast lingo?

Anyway...we’re coming from away!

I’ve planned a 10 day “Billy-wants-to-drive-his-new-all electric-Cadillac” pleasure excursion starting next Monday and leisurely making our way to Lévis, QC, Edmundston and Moncton, NB, Lakeside, PEI and staying for 2 nights at the Oak Island Resort in your neck of the woods. The plan is to return to Almonte via Digby’s ferry to Saint John, NB and repeating the same spots (minus Moncton and PEI) for our return home.

Our Nova Scotia dates are September 12 (Friday) and 13 (Saturday).

So... if you would like a meet-up on the Saturday let us know. If you don’t just reply “Stay the blazes home!"

The cornstalks waver in the field alongside the meandering blue water of the nearby river. Our dear neighbour brought us some fresh produce from her family farm. I finish sipping my espresso, casually ruminating upon the upcoming tour. Shamefully perhaps it is the drive that preoccupies me. I recall the wonderful winding roadways in PEI, practically desolate. When glancing at the adjoining broad beaches there were seemingly endless empty pathways along the red sand.
